There is a polish and style that make some loglines and scripts feel unmistakably professional
As a script reader, writer, and educator, I have discovered specific tactics and guidelines that experienced writers use to perfect their loglines and master their first ten pages and beyond. My course will teach you these key tactics to make the whole process so much easier and more effective.
Hi, I'm a filmmaker, writer, professor, and have been a script reader.
Although I went to the UCLA school of film, my actual training in screenwriting happened outside of the classroom. I became a script reader! At Universal Pictures, DreamWorks, and independent production companies, I read HUNDREDS of scripts! I listened intently to studio executives. I sat in on meetings, studied script notes. I listened to the people at the top discussing scripts. I soaked in the in-depth, insider studio knowledge of why certain scripts were moving up the chain and why others got tossed.
I began writing myself. With each script, with each set of notes, with each revision, I honed my skills and discovered the guidelines, tactics, and strategies that made a logline and script stand out from all the others. There was a pattern, a true system of rules that shape and craft polished, professional scripts.
Your logline is a crucial part of the process-- that one sentence is your arsenal as a writer to compel someone to even consider reading your script. The first ten pages are THE most important pages of a script because most executives decide if they want to keep reading based on those first ten pages. Most scripts start with a premise that has potential, but their first ten pages fail to showcase that potential.
The Script Launcher Blueprint will help you create a POWERFUL logline, a compelling opening scene, and first ten pages that have the key elements to launch your screenplay.
Break out of the writing bubble and
